An LVT floor is durable and easy to maintain, but there are a few things to keep in mind.
Extreme Heat
All types of flooring can warp or discolor when exposed to extremely high temperatures, such as direct sunlight through large windows without shading or contact with hot objects (like hot pans or appliances).
Sharp Objects
Although LVT is wear-resistant, it can still be damaged by sharp objects like knives, scissors, or moving furniture. Belakos recommends using Scratch no More under furniture to prevent damage.Prolonged Moisture
LVT is water-resistant, but standing water (from leaks or flooding) can cause damage, such as adhesive failure or mold formation in the seams. For click LVT, make sure to seal the seams properly when installing it in a wet area. For the best protection in bathrooms or kitchens, dryback LVT is recommended. LVT is not suitable for direct shower areas, as continuous water flow and moisture buildup can damage the floor.
Chemical Substances
Harsh cleaning agents, solvents, or other chemicals can damage the top layer of the LVT floor. Belakos recommends using James products to keep the floor looking great. More information is available at www.James.eu.
Heavy Point Loads
LVT floors can develop dents from prolonged heavy point loads, such as furniture with thin legs or a heavy cabinet without a load spreader.
Direct Contact with Rubber
Rubber materials (such as doormats or wheels) can leave stubborn stains that are difficult to remove.
Uneven Subfloor
An uneven subfloor can cause LVT flooring to warp or wear out faster. Belakos strongly advises professional installation by an experienced flooring specialist.
