THE IMPORTANCE OF ACCLIMATISATION
The secret to a beautiful, durable floor that really lies well and stays well? Allowing the components to get used to the room as well as the temperature in the room: this is called acclimatisation.
All LVT products can work, which means they can expand. This often happens if they are installed too quickly and have not had time to acclimatise.
You can overcome this very easily:
- Make sure you unpack the packages of floorboards and spread them out in the room where they will be laid;
- Do not make high stacks, literally give the boards space;
- Let the boards acclimatise for 48 hours in the room;
- Ensure a constant, normal (living) temperature during these days. We recommend a temperature of 15-23°C and a relative humidity of 30-60%.
Do you want to lay the floor in a house that has been empty for a while?
Not recommended! The risk is that the floor could warp because the house has been (too) cold for a while. The moment you start living in it and there are different (living) temperatures, the difference becomes too big. The floorboards cannot handle this and may warp.
And good to know: vice versa, of course, this also applies to excessively high temperatures. If, for example, it exceeds 30 degrees in a house for a longer period of time, we also advise not laying the floor.The result can be renewed warping of the floorboards. So a constant (living) temperature is definitely your biggest gain!
GET USED TO IT AND ENJOY IT!
Paying a little more attention to your floor before you start laying it will reap huge benefits. So it is definitely worth it!
Avoid temperature fluctuations when laying a floor, as this will affect the LVT floor. If the temperature gets too hot or too cold, the floor may start to shrink or expand, even if it has been laid for a while.
